Comfy Kangaroo is proud to introduce our new Mommy Network. As our community builds we'll continue to have articles and newsletters by contributing editors who are real nursing moms like you! This month our newsletter was written by Ronda Music, mother of 2 under 2! We wonder when she had the time to write!" - Comfy Kangaroo
What's on Every Nursing Mom's List this Holiday Season?
I remember when my son was born in the Spring how easy it was adjusting to nursing. Simple tanks and little sundresses allowed us both to feel comfortable through even the hottest summer months. Now with the newest addition to the family, our little girl, born in the late Autumn, all I can say is BBBRRRRRR! Even in the comfort of our own home I still feel a tinge of cold every time I have to lift my top to nurse - and forget about forays into the neighborhood and our favorite coffee shop or the library! Struck with what I refer to as being "seasonally challenged", I recalled my pre-baby days and remembered one simple fashion tip for successful cold-weather dressing... LAYERS! Simple enough it seemed until I found myself holding one layer up under my chin, continually adjusting my breast over a sports tank with the built-in bra (you know the kind, we all have them!) and pulling my sweater over my head to just relieve the bulk. So, layers were good in theory but a little taxing when holding a 1-month old who isn't necessarily patient when she's hungry.
To be honest, I am one of those women who prided myself on adapting my non-maternity or non-nursing clothes to suit my new lifestyle. I made it through nearly both my entire pregnancies with some creative shopping and MacGyver wardrobing. Then, in this cold-weather lurch I discovered Comfy Kangaroo! I was initially drawn to the fact that it looks fashionable and was made so well. It gave me the impression of being a non-maternity item but with the benefits of being designed to meet a nursing mother's needs. Now it is the staple of my wardrobe (in every color!) and to be honest, I have one on all them time - I even wear one to bed!
So as one nursing mom to another, here are some of the reasons I just love the Comfy Kangaroo!
The length and fit were perfect for my postpartum figure with enough snugness smooth out my post-pregnancy jiggle and to create a nice line under more fitted tops and to cover my tummy down to even my lowest pre-mommy hip-huggers.
I especially love that there are so many option with the tank. The detachable bra allows me to mix and match with the various colors and I find that I wear both the bra and the tank as separates (everyone loves a two-for one deal!)
I really love that the tank has inserts for nursing pads that help hold them in place so I'm not constantly digging them out of my bra.
The fabric and cut feel like my favorite non-nursing clothes. The Cool Max technology helps keep both me and my baby dry. It's also very soft and I feel good holding my baby against me when I wear it. AND it looks expensive!
The cut-outs work beautifully to help maintain discretion. When my baby is latched on, you really see no skin and it looks as if she is simply resting against me.
And lastly, I LOVE that one of the non-mom "fashionistas" at my office asked me in passing the other day where I got my tank top! Fashion victory!(which feels even sweeter when I constantly feel like I'm wiping off milk and food stains with my portable baby wipes!)
I did make some other adjustments to finally get my winter nursing act together. With the staple of my wardrobe being the Comfy Kangaroo tank I worked in some of this seasons trends including updated cardigans and wrap sweaters. I also found some really cute hooded sweaters that zip up the front. With these three styles of tops and sweaters being so accessible this season, I now feel dressed for success whether I am at work, nursing or even pumping! Which leads me to my final favorite Comfy Kangaroo benefit… the cut-outs help hold my breast pump in place so I can pump virtually hands-free - a true bonus for the multi-tasking, blackberry-wielding moms out there!
So, from one Mom to another, this Holiday season ask for a Comfy Kangaroo or buy them as gifts for your nursing friends. Comfy Kangaroo is sold as a single tank or as a money-saving kit (2 tanks and 1 bra). What a thoughtful way to help empower women to continue breastfeeding!
Lastly, I'm excited to share a little good news! Comfy Kangaroo has designed a contour nursing pad insert for a seamless line. Sign up for our newsletter for updates on availability and other upcoming styles including the Comfy Top (an unfitted tank) and more!
Happy Nursing!
